Mildred Swavely

Mildred F. Swavely, 95, of Reading, passed away August 7, 2017, in ManorCare Sinking Spring, where she resided since May.

She was the wife of the late Harold Swavely, with whom she married May 20, 1939.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late George, Jr. and Florence (Zellers) Whitehead.

Mildred was member of St. Marks United Church of Christ, Reading.

She was employed by the Knitting Mill as a Knitter.

Mildred was predeceased by her daughter, Janet Kuhlman and brother, Paul Whitehead.

She is survived by her adopted niece, Jennifer Scolastico, Sinking Spring; adopted great niece and nephew, Isabelle Scolastico and Nicholas Scolastico .

Mildred was an avid knitter, enjoyed crocheting , reading a good book and watching Days Of Our Lives.

Her true love was spending time with Nicholas and Isabelle.

Services will be held Friday, August 11, 2017, at 10 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Burial will follow in Laureldale Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to American Cancer Society, 498 E Bellevue Ave, Reading, PA 19605. Edward J.
