Mildred R. Sumrall

Mildred Ruth Sumrall, 88, of Laureldale died April 27, 2012 in ManorCare Health Services, Muhlenberg Township.

Born December 23, 1923, in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth (Engelhart) Gruber.

She was employed as a slitter with Leininger Knitting Mills for a number of years, retiring in 1983.

Surviving are two daughters: Carolyn M. Sumrall of Laureldale and Barbara A. (Sumrall) Calm of Hyde Park.

In addition, she is survived by her sister, Ethel M. Gruber of Laureldale, a granddaughter, Sherry A. Green, three great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Ruth Gruber of Wilkes-Barre.

Mildred was predeceased by her son, Gary C. Sumrall who died in 1966 and two brothers, Richard Gruber and Robert Gruber.

A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. There will be no service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
