Mildred F. Mcdermott

Mildred F. McDermott, 87, formerly of Shillington, passed away February 16, 2009 in Manor Care Sinking Spring.

Her husband, F. Joseph McDermott died May 8, 1978.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late John K. and Carrie B. (Stieff) Gudikunst.

She was a graduate of Reading High School.

Mildred was employed for 4 years by the City of Reading as a billing clerk in the Water Department.

Mildred was President of the Catholic Women's Club of Berks County in 1991, a 1993 Board Member and Vice Chairman of Volunteer Service Board of Berks Heim 1997-1998 and President of the Shillington Crime Watch during 1995-1998.

She is survived by her son, David M., husband of Bunny McDermott, Shillington. Seven grandchildren: Leanne Osaidecz, Stacey Karmonick, Heidi Smith, Kelly Ferrandino, Jennifer Yarborough, Scott McDermott and Michael McDermott and nine great-grandchildren also survive her.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Louise A. Durkin, her son, F. Joseph McDermott and her grandson, Steven Ziegler.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
