Mildred Sadie (Gotshall) Allen, 85, of Cedar Top, passed into Glory to be with the Lord and her parents, January 10, 2010 at 12:20 pm in the Denver Nursing Home in Reinholds She is greatly missed and loved by her three daughters: Bonnie Maillie, Cindy Allen and Peggy Klein and granddaughter: Ashley Hoke, all of Berks County

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late John and Mabel Gottschall. She was predeceased by her siblings: John Gottschall, Gertrude Weinman and Stanley Gottschall.

Mildred worked in the 1940's for a Chicago based recording studio, helping produce sound effects for radio programs and then during the war, recorded endorsements from Hollywood celebrities to promote war bonds. She also worked in her family's restaurant in Illinois. Years later, she and her husband returned to Berks to raise a family. She supported her children by working at the Glockenspiel, her brother's restaurant. Then she spent the rest of her career working in a managerial position for Sears until she retired. Upon retiring she became a beloved babysitter and nanny for nearly 10 years.

She loved to watch old movies, go out to eat, and visit locations with London being her favorite. She was known for looking her best, her beautiful strawberry blond hair, her sense of humor and incredible memory. She was loved by her friends and the staff at Denver Nursing Home and by everyone she touched through her kind deeds. Most importantly, she worshiped God, his Greatness and his beloved Son, Jesus. She also loved the State of Israel and the Jewish people.

Services and burial will be private at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the family.
