Mikeal D. Franks

Mikeal D. Franks, 60, of Marietta, Lancaster, died November 12, 2014, in Kindred Health Care, 10 days shy of his 61st birthday.

Born in Los Angeles, CA, he was a son of Mikeal V., husband of Dorothy Franks, Wyoming, IA and the late Whitney A. (Dodd) Franks.

He was employed by Iowa Steel as a foundry worker before moving to PA where he was employed by Wilton Armetel for 20 years.

Mikeal was a U.S. Navy veteran serving all over the South Pacific for two years.

He was a loyal Iowa Hawkeyes Football fan.

Mikeal was passionate about Military History

Even until the end Mikeal was very sharp witted and a gentle person.

In addition to his father and step-mother, he is survived by eight siblings: Dan R., husband of Debra Franks, Jerry L. Franks, all of Cedar Rapids, IA, Timothy A., husband of Laina, Naples, FL, Kenneth J. Franks, partner of Sarah Guest, Wyomissing, Steven K. Franks, Cedar Rapids, IA, Karyl S. Franks, partner of Mark Simcox, Anamosa, IA, Laura K. Franks, Cedar Rapids, IA and Rachel A. Franks, Kansas City, KS.

He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Larry Sherman, NB and 18 nieces and nephews.

Mikeal was predeceased by his sister, Emily Sherman.
