Michele Palumbo, 75, passed away July 31, 2010 in his Wyomissing residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Filomena (Fratangelo) Palumbo.
Born in Taranta Peligna, in the Province of Chieti, Abruzzi, Italy, he was a son of the late Giovanni and Maria F. (Lippis) Palumbo.
He was employed as a sewing machine mechanic for many years for H. Oritsky. He retired as a self employed mushroom grower.
Michele loved Italy. He often visited his home town of Taranta Peligna; most recently in July. He was a member of the Italian Heritage Council and Victor Emmanuel.
He also had a passion for sports, especially soccer, football and hockey. He supported all the Philadelphia sports teams.
Michele was a member of Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Reading.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his two sons: John Palumbo, Sinking Spring and Vincent Palumbo, Wyomissing. He is also survived by his brother, Tonino, husband of Rosaria Palumbo, Sinking Spring and his sister, Giovanna, wife of Joseph W. Brunner, Auburn. There are two grandchildren, Joseph M. Palumbo and Jennifer L. Palumbo, also surviving.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 237 Franklin St., Reading PA 19602. A viewing will be from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Contributions may be made to Holy Rosary R.C. Church at the above address.
