Michael J. Torchia

Michael J. Torchia, 80, of Reading, died February 10, 2007 at 5 p.m. in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center where he had been a patient for 10 days.

Born in Reading on April 23, 1926, he was a son of the late Vittorio and Rose (Pollano)Torchia.

He was employed for 30 years as a Time Clerk with Dana Corporation, Reading retiring in 1974.

Michael was an Army veteran of WW II, where he served in the European Theater including the Battle of the Bulge.

He was a lifetime member and officer for Victor Emmanuel II, Reading for over 50 years.

Michael is survived by two sons, David L. Torchia husband of Susan L. Worcester, Reading and Joseph M. Torchia husband of Marybeth Torchia, Robesonia. Two grandchildren, Zachary and Gabriella also survive him. He was predeceased by 10 siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 16 at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. A viewing will be held Thursday, February 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading.
