Michael T. Phillips

Michael T. Phillips, 53, of Shillington, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 12, 2024.

Born in Reading, he was a son of Julia (Herter) Kratz, wife of Michael Kratz, of Shillington.

Michael was married to Nichole C. (Ettel).

Graduating from Governor Mifflin High School, Michael worked for over 30 years as an HVAC technician. For the last 25 years, he worked for UGI, and he served as a union steward for several years.

Michael was a brave, curious, and adventurous soul. He was fearless. Whether it was bungee jumping in Costa Rica, swimming with dolphins in Bermuda, racing or hill climbing, or riding his motorcycle, he lived for the thrill. An Irishman proud of his heritage, among his many travels Michael toured Ireland. He was also a member of the Sports Car Club of America and participated in the Duryea hill climb track as well as the Weatherly racetrack.

Music meant a great deal to him. He attended countless shows. Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, and Metallica were among his favorites.

In addition to his parents and wife, Michael's memory is treasured by his brother, Jeffery Phillips, companion of Stacy Bechtel, of Leesport, and nephews Deklin Scott Phillips, Isaiah Shumard, and Seth Straka.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael's memory may be offered to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Berks County, 640 Centre Ave, Reading, PA 19605.
