Michael Krupa

Michael Krupa, 93 died December 29 at 11:25 a.m. in his West Reading residence.

He was the husband of Mary F. (Zdradzinski) Krupa.

Born in Poland, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Sophia (Kabala) Krupa.

He was employed by the former Textile Machine Works, Wyomissing for 47 years until his retirement in 1975.

He was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading. At Sacred Heart he was a long time volunteer, last working in October; he also worked on many committees at the church. He was a cub and boy scout leader at Sacred Heart.

Krupa played on the State Championship 1939 Carpenter Steel Team which also played in the amateur Softball World Series in Chicago. He also played on the Liberty Fire Company Team for many years. For ten years he was a member of the West Reading Has-Beens softball team.

He also umpired for 12 years for the Berks County Official Association.

Krupa bowled until he was 92 in various leagues throughout the Reading area.

He was a lifetime member of the Polish Falcons Association and the Liberty Fire Company, both of Reading.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, Eugene M., Eddystone (Delaware County), Lawrence G., Hollywood, FL and Gerald F., Temple. There is also one daughter Joan M. (Krupa) Janis, East Norriton, Montgomery County. Other survivors include one sister Anna Krupa, Reading. There are also 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Entombment in Gethsemane Cemetery. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church Memorial Fund P.O. Box 6217 Wyomissing, PA 19610.
