Michael Koyste

Michael Koyste, 82, passed away peacefully February 26, 2009 in his Spring Twp. residence with his loving family by his side. He is now reunited with his soul mate, Harriet H. (Gougon) Koyste, who passed away August 8, 2008. Born in Frackville, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Silinsky) Koyste. He was a graduate of the former Pennfield High School in 1944 and a U.S. Air Force Veteran of both World War II and The Korean Conflict. He was an assistant coach and score keeper for the STAA Cubs. Mr. Koyste was an operating engineer for Local #542 for fifty years, retiring in 1993. He was a member and an usher of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield. Michael was a life time member of VFW # 5428 and American Legion # 972, both of Collingdale. He was on the Recreation Committee, a Little League Manager and a Cub Master for Troop # 502 for a number of years in Allegheny Township, PA. He was the loving father of five children: Keith M., husband of Rosemarie (Lute) Koyste of Sinking Spring; Debra A. Kantner, companion of Joann Noss of Sinking Spring; Craig S., husband of Kazume (Baker) Koyste, of Spring Twp.; Douglas A., husband of Susan (Botsian) Koyste of Spring Twp.; and Jeffrey L., husband of Sharlene (Moll) Koyste, of Sinking Spring. Other survivors include nine grandchildren: Mark, Cindy, Chris, Craig, Derrick, Justyn, Shane, Brandon, and Nikki and four great grandchildren. Two brothers, Stephen, Reading and William, Fleetwood; and two sisters, Anna Zadlo, Shillington and Kay Shurr, Wyomissing also survive him. He was predeceased by one sister, Evelyn Caruso. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in the St. Ignatius Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading.
