Michael Hartz, Jr.

Michael Hartz Jr., 90, passed away June 17, 2017 in his Kenhorst residence with his wife by his side.

He was the loving husband of Arlene (Rudy) Hartz. They were married October 7, 1950 at Nativity of Blessed

Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, where he was also an active member.

Mickey, as most everyone called him, was born in Reading, to parents Michael Sr., and Helen Hartz.

He was a graduate of Governor Mifflin High School.

Mickey served in the United States Army during World War II and also in the Korean War.

Mickey and Arlene have a daughter, Sandra married to Robert Scheetz, who is the love of his life. He has a brother, Gerald, husband of Heidi Hartz, Maine; and a deceased sister, Dorothy Hudack. He has two remaining sisters-in-law, Betty Spannuth and Carol Gromes and many nieces and nephews.

He worked at the Parrish Press Steel plant for 42 years as a tool inspector.

Mickey enjoyed traveling with his wife, daughter and son-in-law to many places around the world. He also enjoyed fishing, until he fell in the water, and was an avid Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

He will be greatly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 504 Summit Ave., Reading, PA 19611. Viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. in the church. Burial will be at Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the church at the address above or Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Rd., Birdsboro, PA 19508. Edward J.
