Michael Flannery, Reading attorney A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael F. Flannery, 53, of 917 Wayne Avenue, Wyomissing, will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading. Burial will be in St. Paul's Mission Cemetery, Douglassville.

Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.

Flannery was pronounced dead April 3 at 11:11 p.m. in his office at 532 Walnut St. Death-ruling information is not yet available from the Berks County coroner's office.

He was the husband of Charlene V. (Voorhees) Flannery.

Born in Reading, he was a son of Francis Flannery, Shillington, and the late Patricia D. (Daly) Flannery.

Flannery was self-employed for 15 years as an attorney in Reading. He had previously worked four years as an associate attorney for Cottom, Hoffert and Gring, Reading.

He held prior employment with the Berks County Domestic Relations and Adult Parole Probation offices, and additionally served as both an assistant district attorney and public defender.

Flannery was a 1967 graduate of Wyomissing High School and received a degree from Temple University, Philadelphia, in 1973.

He earned his law degree in 1978 from the New England School of Law.

Flannery was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and received a Bronze Star.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church.

Flannery served as youth coach with the Wyomissing Area Soccer Club for several years, and was a soccer referee.

He was a former board member of both Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton, and the Berks County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Flannery is also survived by three sons: Sean M., Shippensburg, Cumberland County; Brian P., Pittsburgh; and Devin J., at home.

Other survivors include a brother, Timothy, New York City; and three sisters: Kathleen A. Flannery, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; Christine Flannery, Harrisburg; and Mary Jean (Flannery) Smith, Reading.
