Michael L. Daniels

Michael L. Daniels, 70, of Reading, died July 18, 2009 in the St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township, where he had been since Friday.

He was the loving husband of 44 years to Maria (Lykourgos) Daniels.

Born in Kavala, Greece, he was the son of the late Louis and Catherine K. (Kouvandaris) Daniels.

He was a 1957 graduate of Reading High School, where he was a member of the school's soccer and basketball teams.

Michael was employed a number of years as a forklift operator with Wetterau, Muhlenberg Township and later in the same capacity with AWI, Robesonia, before retiring in 2001.

He was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading.

In addition to his passion for gardening and outdoor activities, Michael was an avid bowler. He was a popular figure in the local alleys; bowling a perfect 300 numerous times.

He is also survived by three children: Catherine Daniels, Muhlenberg Township, Lee Daniels, Philadelphia and Tina Daniels, Reading.

Other survivors include four grandchildren: Alec M. Lopez, Stephen A. Lopez, Derek L. Lopez and Cecily M. Lopez all of Muhlenberg Township.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, PA 19611. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church.
