Michael C. D'Amico, 72, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem. He was the loving companion of Helen Milunec, with whom he shared 23 years.

Michael was a true "jack of all trades". He took coursework at various colleges to hone his skills in electrical, heating and plumbing. There wasn't anything he couldn't learn to accomplish. He loved books and was a self taught man.

From a city boy, he adapted to country living, raising llamas and Sicilian donkeys. He help create a wellness center and a retreat while living in New Jersey. In 2010, he retired from UMDNJ as a Fire and Life Safety Supervisor.

Mike and Helen traveled extensively to Mexico, Jamaica. Dominican Republic, Bahamas, British Columbia, Vancouver, Victoria, Whistler, Seattle, the California Coast, and many southern states in the US, recently traveling in their RV along with Mike's service dog, Gracie Lu Bern.

In 2013, Mike and Helen relocated to Myrtle Beach, SC and in 2017, moved once again to Fairfield Harbour in New Bern, NC.

Michael gave us wonderful moments together that our family will cherish forever. We want to thank all our friends and family for their support, prayers and love as Michael bravely and courageously fought the toughest battle of his life. In the end, we lost a great man whose character was measured by helping those in need, seeking nothing in return. He was a remarkable man.

A Celebration of Life will be hosted by Mike's family starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Oakbrook Fire Company, 628 Park Avenue, Reading, 19611.
