Michael D. Derr

Michael Delano Derr, 70, of Mohnton, died September 8, 2011 in Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Elsie Mae (Schaeffer) Derr whom he married June 6, 1970.

Born November 14, 1940 in Blandon, he was a son of the late Charles and Hettie E. (Bossler) Derr.

Michael was employed with Carpenter Technology for 19 years, and Barta as a driver for 10 years, retiring in 2005.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Also surviving are three children: Gennel T. (Derr), wife of Rhett D. Zimmerman; Timon D., husband of Nicole G. (Hallman) Derr and Gideon J. Derr.

Other survivors include a brother, Charles Derr and a sister, Kristine (Derr), wife of Dennis Barrall.

In addition, there are six grandchildren: Garrett, Sydney, Evan, Bethany, Morgan and Grant.

Michael was predeceased by a brother, David Derr.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Mohn's Hill Evangelical Congregational Church, 708 Mohn's Hill Road, Spring Township. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
