Michael P. Brehler

Michael P. (Mick) Brehler, 64, of Wyomissing passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015 in Lewes, Delaware.

Mick was born in Escanaba, Michigan and is survived by his wife, Michaela, his son, Michael, and his daughter, Becky, all of whom reside in Wyomissing. He is also survived by brothers Joe and Denny, Lansing, Michigan, and his sister, Patty, in Morrice, Michigan.

At the time of his death, Mick was employed by UGI Energy Services as a project engineer. He held various positions with UGI Corporation, both domestically and overseas, over the past 17 years.

Mick was a U.S. Army veteran with 21 years of service. His military service included tours in Vietnam, the Gulf War in Kuwait, and Iraq. Mick attended Ranger, Airborne and Pathfinder schools during his military service. He was a Master Parachutist with over 200 military jumps. His awards and decorations included the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. Mick retired as a Major from the U.S. Army in 1998 while working for the Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Mick's passion in life was his wife and two children. Mick was an avid woodworker at home and a reader of any book he could get his hands on. He and his family would spend much of their free time in Limbach, Slovakia, with Michaela's parents, where they produced wine under the label Vavrinsky-Brehler. It was Mick's dream to eventually retire from UGI and move to Slovakia with his family to pursue his wine-making career full time.

An informal ceremony commemorating and honoring Mick will be held on July 30, 2015 beginning at 3 PM at the Stokesay Castle in Reading, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mick's name to the Wyomissing Public Library, 9 Reading Blvd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, or to America's Fund at americasfund.org, an agency established to aid wounded army veterans and their families.
