Michael D. Ashcroft, 58, of Lower Alsace Twp., died October 17, 2013, in Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Karen M. (McQuaite) Ashcroft; they were happily married for 29 years.
Born in Alexandria, VA, he was a son of, Allen J., D.M.D. and E. Ann (Roslin) Ashcroft, Spring Ridge.
He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and Kutztown University, earning his BA in Geography.
Michael was in sales working for Bechtel Power Corp, Rochester Midland, Industrial Equipment Corp. and most recently PPC Lubricants, where he last worked Wednesday.
He was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Penn.
Michael enjoyed playing golf, running, following the Phillies and Notre Dame football, and spending time with his friends and family. Michael was the proud voice of the Reading Central Catholic Cardinals football team until the school's closure in 2011.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children: Matthew R. Ashcroft, Manayunk, Alexis A. Ashcroft, Bethesda, MD and Justin M. Ashcroft, a student at Villanova University. There are six siblings: Allen, Jr., Ellicott City, MD, Kevin, Allentown, Susan, Alexandria, VA, Brian, Pennside, Joseph, Littleton, CO, Alisa, Boston MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena Chapel, 2427 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the chapel.
