Merryl J. "Whitey" Kleinsmith 82, of Hamburg died June 9th in the Laurel Center, Tilden Township. He was the husband of Grace L. (Kissling) Kleinsmith. Merryl was born in Hamburg and was the son of the late Jacob S. and Anna V. (Wentzel) Kleinsmith. He worked as a pattern maker for 20 years for Kenneth Behler Pattern Works, Deer Lake retiring in 1991. Merryl was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Hamburg. He was a life member of Union Fire Company #1 and financial secretary. Merryl was a life member of Berks County Firemen's Association and the Temple Fire Company. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. In addition to his wife he is survived by 1 daughter, Linda A. wife of Larry A. Wentzel, Hamburg, 2 granddaughters, Kristin Santangelo and Jayme Trogus, 2 great granddaughters and 1 sister, Betty J. Cross, Wellsboro. He was predeceased by 1 brother Vernon T. Kleinsmith. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg.
