Melvin P. Edwards

Melvin P. Edwards, 81, of Hamburg, passed away on August 23, 2024, at Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital.

He was the loving husband of Kathleen (Brommer) Edwards. They were married on December 24, 1966.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Melvin P. and Elsie (Seering) Edwards.

Mel was a graduate of Hamburg High School in 1960 where he was an all county basketball player.

He served in the Army National Guard for six years.

Mel was a PA State Trooper for 25 years, retiring in 1993.

He loved spending time with his family and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Mel cherished his time at the family cabin in Lycoming County. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer, and a die-hard Phillies fan. Mel also coached little league baseball and elementary basketball.

In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by his two children, Zena and her husband Peter, and Melvin and his wife Diane; and three grandchildren: Erica Lutz, Hailie Edwards, and Hunter Edwards. His furry buddy, Copper, also survives him.
