May A. Hunter

May A. Hunter, 83, formerly of West Reading, died Feb. 28 at 6 a.m. in Berks Heim, Bern Township, where she had resided since July 1999.

Born in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late Helen Steffy.

Hunter was employed for 40 years as a sewing machine operator by various manufacturing businesses in the Reading area, retiring in 1988.

Surviving is a daughter, Shirley (Steffy) Herbst, West Reading.

Other survivors include four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be private. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
