Maureen Teresa (Hughes) Taylor, 86, of Heritage Towers, Doylestown and formerly of Leesport, PA went to be in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus on April 7, 2012.

She was the wife of 56 years to the late Joseph Elbert Taylor who died August 13, 2008.

Born June 24, 1925 in Armagh, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Ellen "Nellie" (McGarvey) Hughes.

Maureen was a 1943 graduate of Lakewood High School, Lakewood, NJ.

She was employed as an operator supervisor with PA/NJ Bell Telephone for 12 years. Following that, she was employed as a voter registrar with Bucks County Court House for 15 years, retiring in 1987.

She was a longtime member of Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, Hyde Park and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church, Doylestown and attended Mass daily.

Maureen was a member of The Ladies Order of Ancient Order Hibernians, The Ladies of Mt. Carmel and Knights of Columbus Association.

She enjoyed playing bridge, Wii bowling and spending time with her friends and family. Maureen was also involved in numerous volunteer activities.

Surviving are five children: Steven J. of Pottsville; James P, husband of Kristina Taylor of Chester Springs, PA; John D., husband of Janet L. Taylor of Chalfont, PA; Kevin M., husband of Cynthia Taylor of Hilltown, PA and Teresa M. Dreyer of Hilltown, PA.

Other survivors include 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the mass in church. Burial will be at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
