Maureen Stock, 76, of S. Heidelberg Township, passed away in her home on Friday, December 15, 2023. She was the loving wife of Walter D. Stock. On Valentine's Day they would have celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary.
She was born in Philadelphia to the late Francis Conlin and was raised by her mother and step-father, the late Madeline (McNamara) and Paul Bortell. Maureen graduated from Frankford High School.
Maureen was working at Buddy's Wagon Wheel of Fox Chase when she and Walt first met. Later in life she worked as an administrative assistant for Episcopal Hospital. She retired as an administrative assistant from Kemper Insurance.
Walt and Maureen moved several times between Pennsylvania, Florida, and New Jersey, but no matter how far they had to travel, they always made a point to be present and involved for family events and gatherings. Maureen loved her family dearly and was very proud of them. A funny and compassionate woman, Maureen always had a soft spot in her heart for dogs. She will be especially missed by her and Walt's dog, Raylan.
Left to treasure Maureen's memory is her husband, Walter; her children, Bonnie Curnane (Douglas) of Philadelphia and Christopher LaPenta (Beth) of West Palm Beach, FL; stepdaughter, Laura Walker (James) of East Waterford; grandchildren, Robert, Brandon, Rachel, and Jared; step-grandchildren, Danny, Diana, Mark, Cody, Maverick, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Chase and Nathan; and step-great grandchildren, Lily, Nathan, Esther, and William.
Maureen is also survived by her sisters, Madeline David, Paula Allen, Edwina Quartucci, and Donna Schmeltzer; her brother, Donald Bortell; and her nieces, nephews, and their families.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Kathy Boyko; her brother, Edward Bortell; and her maternal grandmother, Hazel McNamara.
