Matthew Nicholas

Matthew Nicholas, 55, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 8, 2023. He was the loving husband of Christa (Wachinski), with whom he would have celebrated their fifth anniversary on June 20.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Anthony Francis and Helen Patricia (Adams) Nicholas.

He graduated from Holy Name '86 before attending Clemson University where he played football.

Matt was a valued member of the sales team in the Parts Department at Manderbach Ford, where he greatly enjoyed working with his friends and colleagues.

He enjoyed all things sports related, particularly football. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, for which he will be forgiven. He was an avid target shooter and enjoyed participation in competitions with his brother. He was fascinated with numbers and enjoyed studying the stock market and all things financial. He enjoyed food, particularly his wife's cooking and her homemade pierogi. He was a kind and caring soul who cared very deeply, in his own quiet way, about those he loved.

Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Christa, whom he loved so well, and his daughters, Mackana K. and Bailey M. Nicholas, both of Sinking Spring and of whom he was extremely proud. Matt is also survived by his aunts and uncles: Lucille Hawkins (Michael) of Lower Alsace Township; Gregory T. Nicholas of River View Park; Joan B'Oris (widow of John Sr.) of Chalfont; and Patricia Carroll (Guy) of Farming Ridge; and his many cousins and their families. He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher.

A Prayer Service and Memorial will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. 739 Penn Avenue West Reading, PA 19611.
