Maryanne Bitting

MaryAnne Bitting (Gantert) 81, of Reading, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021. She was a loving and dedicated wife of Delbert G. Bitting; they were together for 60 years.

She was the daughter of Raymond and Sophie (Stelma) Gantert. MaryAnne worked for many years at Delta Hosiery and Big John's Sandwich Shop.

She was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church where she led the food pantry, "Ruth's Room" for 24 years. She was an active community member in Glennside and touched many lives, always reaching out to help those in need. She loved Gardening, music, vacations in North Wildwood, and Jesus.

MaryAnne is survived by her children: Phyllis Mc Laughlin, wife of Mark McLaughlin of Shillington; Patti Snyder of Shillington and Deborah Mest, wife of David Mest of Hamburg. She is also survived by her loving sister Claire Clark of Mt. Penn. MaryAnne is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Joseph, Stephanie, Michael, Zachary, Tricia, Caroline, and Sarah; along with six great-grandchildren. MaryAnne is preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Gantert and Raymond (Bud) Gantert.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 3:00pm in Christ Lutheran Church, Reading. Pastor Bruce Osterhout to lead the service. The family invites everyone to join them for fellowship at the church after the service to celebrate the life of MaryAnne and share fond memories of her. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Christ Lutheran Church.
