Mary L. Schappell, 80, of Lenhartsville, passed away, Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Lutheran Home in Topton.

She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Schappell.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Alan and Minerva (Baer) Lascomb.

Mary was a 1955 graduate of Reading High School.

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by three sons: Scott, husband of Robin Schappell, Leesport; Dean, husband of Sherry Schappell, Hamburg; and Richard, husband of Ginger Schappell, Lenhartsville; three daughters: Cindy, wife of Scott Bortz, Wyomissing; Kelly, wife of Kevin Spatola, Leesport; and Kara, wife of Chet Sangrey, Mohnton. One brother; Raymond Lascomb, Reading; one sister, Doris Hafer, Reading; 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren also survive her.

Mary was predeceased by her daughter, Sherry Schappell, in 1977, a sister, Betty Brightbill, and a great grandson, Julian Gust in 2017.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 11 a.m., at Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, 40 South 4th Street, Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Foundations at –  alzfdn.org .  Online condolences may be expressed at  www.burkeydriscoll.com .
