Mary Sanchez

Mary (Zampelli) Sanchez, 93, of West Reading, died July 21, 2007 at 10:25 am in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where she had been since Friday.

She was the widow of Venancio M. Sanchez, who died January 31, 1985.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on February 20, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Donato and Adele (Sacco) Zampelli.

She worked as a seamstress for a number of years with Reading Clothing, Reading.

Mary later worked 17 years as an examiner with Herman Oritsky, Reading, before retiring in 1976.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading and a devote patron of St. Jude.

Mary is survived by two children, Peter M. husband of Marie A. (Pickering) Sanchez of Glenside, Montgomery County and Ana A. Sanchez-Hartung widow of James E. Hartung of Shillington. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ellen Sipos, who died December 3, 2004.

Other survivors include five siblings, Sebastian of Kenhorst, Dominic of Kenhorst, Michael of Wyomissing, Helen Intelisano of Reading and Concetta Notario of Kenhorst and a son-in-law, Robert Sipos of Allentown.

There are also six grandchildren, Maria H. Sanchez-Jadach, Andrea L. Hook, Benjamin V. Sanchez, James M. Hartung, Daniel J. Hartung and Alyssa Sipos.

Mary is also survived by three great grandchildren, Nathan J. Hartung, Brayden J. Hook and Elena M. Jadach.

She was also predeceased by three siblings; Marzio Zampelli, Nicholas Zampelli and Elizabeth Clauser.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 am in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Reading, with Monsignor Felix Losito celebrating. Viewings will be held Monday 6:30 - 8:00 pm and Tuesday 9:00 - 9:30 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
