Mary J. Ruth

Mary J. Ruth, a retired elementary school teacher, died July 14 at 10:05 a.m. in her residence on Shelbourne Road, Exeter Township.

Ruth, 92, was employed as an elementary teacher in the Reading School District at the Glenside building. She was later an elementary teacher in Lower Alsace Township from 1950 to 1954 and in the Muhlenberg School District from 1954 until her retirement in June 1968.

Born in Shillington, she was a daughter of the late Heber and Annie (Bossler) Ruth.

Ruth was a 1929 graduate of Reading High School and a 1933 graduate of Kutztown State Teachers College.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading.

Ruth was an Army WAC veteran of World War II.

Surviving are a niece, Ruth A. Hartung, Reading; four other nieces and two nephews.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
