Mary Rose Taggert

Mary R. Young Taggert, 89, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

She was the beloved wife of Edward A. Taggert.

Born in Chestnut Hill, PA, she was the daughter of the late Hugh D. and Anna (McHugh) McFadden.

Mary was a graduate of Hallahan Catholic Girls High School.

She was employed as a reporter/copy editor for 17 years at Reading Eagle Co., retiring in 1983.

Mary was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola R. C. Church, Whitfield.

She was an avid reader who enjoyed playing scrabble, word games, traveling, especially to Ireland, going to the casinos, and spending time with her family. Mary loved to entertain and was always the life of the party. Her grandchildren nicknamed her "NASCAR Nanny."

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by two sons: Paul Kevin Young, West Wyomissing; and Brian D. Young, Reading; three daughters: Debra A. Young, wife of John McCandless, West Chester; Judith, wife of Randy Boyer, Wyomissing; and Mary Beth Young, Wyomissing. Two step daughters: Vickie, wife of Joseph Bianchi, Pottstown; and Pamela Pascal, Gilbertsville; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren also survive her.

Mary was predeceased by her first husband, Paul I. Young, five brothers, and three sisters.

A celebration of life visitation will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611. The service will begin at 6 p.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
