Mary Phillips

Mary (Avanzato) Phillips, 83, of Reading, died November 30, 2007 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where she had been a patient since Monday.

She was the widow of Charles C. Phillips, who died January 9, 2006.

Born May 31, 1924 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Luigi and Carmella Avanzato.

She was a graduate of Reading High School.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

She is survived by two children, Charles J. husband of Sharon Phillips of Sinking Spring and Maria L. wife of Ronald Kreider of Reading.

Other survivors include four brothers, Dominic Avanzato of Philadelphia, Frank Avanzato of Reading, Joseph Avanzato of Muhlenberg Township and Peter Avanzato of Philadelphia.

There are also three grandchildren surviving, Christopher M. Phillips, Michelle E. Phillips and Bryan M. Kreider.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 am in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 1018 North 8th Street, Reading, PA 19604. A viewing will held Tuesday evening 6:30 - 8:30 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
