Mary N. Montanaro

Mary Nora (Bressan) Montanaro, 89, formerly of Swarthmore, Delaware County, died September 13, 2011 in Berks Heim, Bern Township.

She was the wife of Samuel Montanaro who died February 25, 1987.

Born April 22, 1922 in Pittston, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Natale and Anna Maria (Teodori) Gammaitoni Bressan.

Mary was a 1940 graduate of Pittston High School and a 1947 graduate of Keystone Business College.

She was employed as a secretary and business manager with Dr. Sharpless and Associates, Chester, PA for 50 years, retiring in 1999.

Mary was a past member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Swarthmore, Delaware County, where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Surviving are three nephews: Arnold Gammaitoni of Dunmore, Lackawanna County; Louis, husband of Joann (Davis) Maiero of Wyomissing Hills and Carl Gammaitoni of Moscow, Lackawanna County; four nieces: Elaine, wife of Robert Denny of Tobyhanna, Monroe County; Olga (Gammaitoni), wife of John Viola of Clark Summit, Lackawanna County; Eleanor Boyland of Middletown, DE and Emily Miersky of Aston, Delaware County.

There are also numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews surviving.

She was predeceased by a sister, Rena (Bressan) Davies.

Services will be Monday at 12:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple Township, Delaware County.
