Mary Jo Marrella

Mary Jo Marrella, 87, née Romani, of Reading, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 26, 2026. Born on July 23, 1939, in Reading, PA, she lived a life defined by devotion - to her faith, her friends, and above all, her family.

Mary Jo was the beloved wife of the late Paul A. Marrella, who passed in 2019 after 57 years of marriage. Together they built a life and a family grounded in love and unwavering support for one another.

She graduated from Reading High School and went on to earn a degree in Library Science from Kutztown State College. She worked as a school librarian for a short time before dedicating herself fully to raising her family - a role she embraced with her whole heart.

Mary Jo was truly a great mother and a devoted wife, and the absolute pillar of strength in her family. She unselfishly supported her husband's career and the lives of her four children, always putting everyone else first. A phenomenal cook, she brought her family together around the table time and again, and she was a devoted parishioner at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, where her faith was a constant thread throughout her life. She was also cherished as a great friend to her many close friends, who admired her warmth and generosity.

More than anything, Mary Jo treasured time with her family, especially cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events. Her love was steady, selfless, and felt by everyone lucky enough to know her.

She is survived by her four children: Samuel Marrella (Sue), Daneen Weaver (Thomas), Paul L. Marrella (Tracy), and Tara Zibello (Paul); and her eight grandchildren: Samuel A. Marrella Jr. (Ally), Ashleigh Manfredi (Matt), Shannon Weaver, Brian Weaver (Taylor), Mackenzie Marrella, Matthew Marrella, Kathryn Zibello, and Mia Zibello. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Cooper Thomas Marrella and Luca Samuel Manfredi. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Paul A. Marrella.

Mary Jo's legacy is one of quiet strength, deep faith, and boundless love for her family. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
