Mary Lou Gehris, 72, passed away peacefully April 3, 2011 in her Wyomissing residence, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the wife of John P. Gehris.

Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late Stanley W. and Violet F. (Gehret) Reed.

She was a 1957 graduate of Wilson High School.

Mary Lou worked for Peoples Trust Company of Wyomissing and Sears Catalog, Berkshire Mall.

She was a member of TOPS organization of Sinking Spring.

Mary Lou loved flowers, gardening and crafts. She was associated with Crafters, West Lawn United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will always be remembered for her loving and friendly personality.

She was a former member of Plymouth Brethren, Bible Truth Chapel, West Reading and was faithfully attending Calvary Baptist Church of Reading.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children: Peter T. Gehris, fiancé of Abby J. Todd, Binghamton, NY and Sharon L, wife of W. Thomas Lees, Barto. Also surviving are four siblings: Theodore W. Reed, Gerald W. Reed, Joan M. (Reed) Hilt and George R. Reed. Four grandchildren: Miranda J. Gehris, Matthew T. Lees, Kyle J. Lees and Christopher R. Lees also survive her.

She was predeceased by two siblings: Russell E. Reed and Richard R. Reed.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church of Reading, Missionary Fund, 510 Park Avenue, Reading PA 19611.
