Mary Lou Carter

Mary Lou Carter, 96, formerly of Flying Hills, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in her residence at Manor at Market Square. She was the widow of Stanley J. Carter, who passed away on August 24, 1993.

Born in Wyomissing to the late Blaine S. and Marguerite (Ludwig) Dennis, Mary Lou graduated in 1945 from Reading Catholic High School.

Mary Lou enjoyed trips to the casino in Atlantic City and Manhattans during Happy Hour. She was a very sociable person and known as a sharp dresser.

Her highest priorities were her Catholic faith and her family. She was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist de la Salle.

Left to treasure her memory are her children: Dennis M. Carter of Hamburg; Debra M. Carter of Cumru Township; and Joseph S. Carter, husband of Patricia, of Sinking Spring. Mary Lou is also survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Rita Camardese and Pauletta Heinly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Don Cieniewicz at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Gethsemane Mausoleum Chapel of Resurrection, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605, with committal to follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
