Mary (Campitelli) Krug, of Greenfields, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, in the care of Reading Hospital, just two weeks after celebrating her 96th birthday. She was the loving widow of Norman F. Krug, who passed away on December 7, 2008, after 65 years of marriage.
Born in West Reading to the late Tomasso and Assunta (Raffanelli) Campitelli, Mary graduated in 1943 from West Reading High School where she played on the women's basketball team.
She was a member of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church.
Retiring in 1990 after 21 years with Willson Products, Mary served as a Shop Steward. She previously worked at Bright Lights and Oritskys. She served on the Ladies Auxiliary of the Wodenschiere Country Club.
Mary cherished time spent with her family. She loved hosting, especially for the holidays. When she was not baking countless cookies or hosting her large family, Mary could be found sitting on her swing on the patio. As a young woman, she loved to dance. In her later years, she enjoyed playing bingo and cards. Always kind and there for others, Mary always knew just what to say. Her loving wisdom and maternal guidance will be much missed.
Left to treasure Mary's memory are her children: Mary F. (Joseph) Hoffert of Flying Hills; Norman F. Krug of Muhlenberg; Marilyn S. (Rodney) Pearson of Leesport; and Michael S. Krug (Tina) of Greenfields; her grandchildren, Kim, Scott (Christine), Heather (Mark Hueske), Marci (Rodney Swavely), Brandon, Michael, and Timothy; and her great grandchildren, Julia, Mallory, Wesley, Kyle, Derek, Landon, Fletcher, Peyton, and Sky. Mary is also survived by her brother, Thomas Campitelli, and sister, Jeanette Gernert.
In addition to her parents and her dear husband, Norman, Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph and Anthony Campitelli.
Mary's family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Tower Health and Tower Health Hospice for all of the love, comfort, and respect they have shown to Mary and her family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary's memory may be offered to Tower Health at Home Hospice, 1170 Berkshire Blvd, Wyomissing PA 19610.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Angel Garcia on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. Margaret's Church, 925 Centre Ave, Reading, PA 19601, with burial to follow at Charles Evans Cemetery.
