Mary Jane (Pietruszynski) Ziemba, 95, passed away on August 29, 2025 at Oak Leaf Manor, Lancaster, where she resided. She was the beloved wife of Edward Ziemba until his passing in 2020. They shared 66 years of love.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Johanna (Wisniewski) Pietruszynski. Mary Jane graduated from Alvernia High School in 1947. She started working at the JM Deutch Greeting Card factory in Millmont. She then went to the Berkshire Knitting Mills as a pairer, and then to Western Electric for more money making transistors, before getting married and having children. Later in life she worked at Berk-Tec in the wiring department, as well as Palmers Chocolate Company as a packer, where she retired after 20 years. She always kept the others on the Palmers production line laughing. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She also liked to sew, and was a Cub Scout Den mother.
Mary Jane's memory will be cherished by her children: Diane Servent of Lancaster, Richard Ziemba (husband of Shelley Chapman) of Reading, and Karen Peters (wife of Jim Peters) of Raleigh, NC. Also seven grandchildren: Kristin Krach, Kyle Servent, Sara Rooney, Jack Ziemba, Jayne Ziemba, Amanda Peters and Rebecca Peters. Also six great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brothers, Leonard Pietruszynski and Joseph Pietruszynski. In addition to her husband, she joins in Heaven her siblings: Raymond, Margaret, and her twin sister Helen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. John Baptist de la Salle, 42 Kerrick Rd, Shillington, PA 19607, with entombment to follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Family and friends may begin to gather beginning at 10 a.m at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Jane's honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
