Before working as a teacher she was employed as a receptionist for Air Products from 1954-1959.
She compiled a Semprini family cookbook in 2007 dedicated to her mother which included all the treasured family recipes. Everyone associated with the Wilson swimming family knew Mary Jane as the mom for all of Roy's swimmers.

Mary Jane loved to travel, especially trips to Italy, London and Paris. Summers in Avalon with the family were cherished memories along with many years of cheering on Penn State football and tailgating in State College.
