Mary Ellen Hivner

Mary Ellen (Felix) Hivner, 85, passed away peacefully, Saturday February 2, 2013. Born June 14, 1927 in Waynesboro PA to the late Lester and Genevieve (Geeseman) Felix.

She was a 1945 graduate of Reading High School.

Mary Ellen retired from Hotel Management; having opened the Riveredge and the former Reading Motor Inn.

She moved from Wyomissing PA to Calabasas CA in 1999, where she helped care for her grandchildren.

Mary Ellen was an advocate and supporter of pediatric cancer research, having helped nurse two of her grandchildren through the disease.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years Robert R, Hivner.

Mary Ellen is survived by her children; Bradley L.Brickel, of Wyomissing; David R. Brickel, of Exeter Township; Andrew R. Hivner, of Shillington; Brett Hivner, of Wernersville and Tracey (Hivner) Buelow, of Calabasas CA.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was the last of her generation.

Mary Ellen was also predeceased by two Beloved Grandchildren: Maximillian Buelow age 11, in 2006 and Glen D. Brickel age 41 in 2012.

She will be remembered for her extreme kindness and her willingness to help any one who needed her. Remembrance and Celebration of Mary Ellen's life will be held Sunday Feb. 17. 2013 at 3:00 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave. West Reading PA 19611.
