Mary Anna Hartranft

Mary Anna Hartranft, 89, died June 20, 2011 in her Reading residence.

She was the wife of Franklin Peter Hartranft who died in 1973.

Born February 11, 1922 in Birdsboro, she was a daughter of the late Clarence E. and Anna Edith (Lord) Bingaman.

Mary was employed by the former AT&T as a line worker, retiring in 1986.

She was a very active member of Nativity Lutheran Church, Reading.

Mary was also a member of Sisters of Amaranth.

Surviving is a daughter, Debra Ann Schappell of Alsace Township and a sister, Marian, wife of Russell Hoster.

Other survivors include a granddaughter, Kim Lerch; two great-grandchildren, Seth and Shannan Lerch and a great- great- grandson, Nero.

Mary was predeceased by two brothers, Roland and John and a sister, Geraldine.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Nativity Lutheran Church, 1501 N. 13th Street, Reading. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be in Alsace Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
