Mary E. Harris

Mary Ellen (McGovern) Harris, 88, of Reading and formerly of Pottsville, died March 22, 2008 at 9:47 am in the Emergency Room at St. Joseph Medical Center.

She was born January 13, 1920 in Pottsville, Schuylkill County and was a daughter of the late George and Jennie (Holley) McGovern.

Mary was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

She was employed for many years as a waitress with the Sportsman Pub, Laureldale and Lasacala's Bar, Reading. She was last employed as a hostess with Lincoln Plaza, Reading.

Mary is survived by a son, Frank E. husband of Carol A. (Stetzler) Harris of Laureldale.

Other survivors include two grandchildren; Todd F. husband of Dawn E. (Kofluk) Harris of South Heidelberg Township and Jennifer wife of Joshua Hertzog of Spring Township and two great grandchildren; Joshua T. Harris and Jane I. Harris.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. A viewing will be held Thursday 8:30 - 9:30 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum.
