Mary Ann L. Gentile, a former teacher and principal in the Reading School District, died of natural causes Oct. 3 at 6:45 a.m. in her residence on Sweitzer Road, Brecknock Township.
Gentile, 52, was the wife of Ennio Gentile.
She was employed for 17 years by the district as a bilingual teacher at Lauer's Park Elementary School; vice principal and principal at Northeast Middle School; principal at Northwest Middle School; and, for three years, principal at 16th and Haak Elementary School, last working there in February 2001.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of Lucy Macrina Mazzo, Kenhorst, and the late Anthony Macrina.
Gentile was a 1968 graduate of Holy Name High School and a 1972 graduate of Immaculata College, Malvern, Chester County, with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and elementary education. She received her master's degree in education from Kutztown University and her doctorate in education from Widener University, Chester, in 1998.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Gentile is also survived by two sons, Felix and John, and two daughters, Grace and Christi Gentile, all at home.
Other survivors include two brothers, Samuel Macrina, Wyomissing, and Mic { ok } Macrina, Aston, Delaware County.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
