Mary June Delong

Mary J. DeLong, 94, of Wernersville, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025, in the care of Reading Hospital. She was the loving widow of Jerald C. DeLong, who passed away on April 18, 2020, after 66 years of marriage.

She was born in Reading to the late Paul and Mary (Cummings) Botzum. As a young woman she worked for several years at the Berkshire Knitting Mills.

She and Jerald would alternate their church attendance between her parish of St. Francis de Sales R.C.C. and his church, Trinity Lutheran Church of Wernersville.

Mary was a very attentive homemaker whose family was very important to her. She was very crafty and won countless ribbons at many fairs for her crochet work. A good cook, she was particularly known for her baking. Together with her husband she traveled through most of the United States, and they loved snowbirding in Florida.

Her family is grateful for the excellent care she received from the staff of Country Meadows.

Her memory will be treasured by her children: Susanne C. "Greth" Schrum, widow of Neal, of Sinking Spring; Richard L. DeLong, husband of Sharon, of Newmanstown; and Brenda L. Anderson, wife of Chris, of Newmanstown; her grandchildren: Rodney Schrum; Kim Landis; Rachel Moss, wife of Fred; Nicole DeLong; Hallye Anderson, companion of Glenn Richardson; and Mathew Anderson; and great grandchildren; Tatum Landis; Kaiya Dunlop; Harper Moss; Nora Moss; Forest Richardson; and Sawyer Richardson. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Miller, widow of Donald.

Services for Mary will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611, with committal to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
