Mary E. Cober

Mary E. Cober of the Highlands at Wyomissing in Wyomissing, PA, passed away on October 10, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas G. Cober on December 8, 2008 and by her sister, Jean E. Tarr of Berlin, MD.

She is survived by her daughter Carol C. Reid and son-in-law William R. Reid III of Spring Township, PA. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Kimberly B. Cannon of Chicago, IL, Paige B. Nolte, M.D. of Palmyra, VA, Kristen Tremble Christian of Boston, MA and Josh Tremble of Wyomissing, PA. In addition she is survived by nine great-grandchildren: Jacob, Benjamin and Amalia Cannon, Ariana and Tessa Nolte, Ella, Emilie and Edward Christian and Katherine Tremble.

Mrs. Cober was born on Jan. 6, 1918 in Ruffsdale, PA, the daughter of Susanna Hissem Eslinger and John M. Eslinger. She received her BS degree from California University of Pennsylvania and her MA degree from Syracuse University. She taught school for 33 years and retired in 1977 from the Greenwich Public School System in Greenwich, CT where she was a fifth grade teacher. She was an avid traveler and was a children's author. She loved playing bridge.

She was a member of the West Lawn United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary teachers' fraternity, and a former member of Brookside Country Club in Allentown, PA.

There will be a private interment followed by a memorial service on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Sinking Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Highlands of Wyomissing Endowment Fund, 2000 Cambridge Avenue, Wyomissing, PA 19610. Edward J.
