Mary T. Cleary

Mary T. (Gallagher) Cleary, 88 of Reading, passed away December 22, 2017, in the Berkshire Center.

Her husband, Robert F. Cleary, died in 1978; they married on September 3, 1951.

Born in Minersville, she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (McKeown) Gallagher.

She was a graduate of Minersville High School.

Mary was a homemaker who was dedicated to her family; one of the best gifts she gave her children was staying at home to raise them.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

Mary is survived by five children: Mary E. Hosley (Daniel), Millsboro, DE; Robert F. Cleary, Jr. (Nancy), Enola; Patricia "Trish" A. Cleary (Mark), Wyomissing; William E. Cleary (Carmen), Muhlenberg Township; and Janet C. Spillane (John), Spring Township. Ten grandchildren: Brigitte, Jacqueline, Bradley, Michael, Erika, Alexis, John, Zachary, Jena and Alyx; and seven great-grandchildren: Austin, Zoey, Nevaeh, Landynn, Chloe, Levi and Harper also survive her.

She was predeceased by five siblings: James, Helen, Joseph, Francis and Lawrence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery. Burial will follow in adjoining cemetery.
