Mary Catherine Chandler

Mary C. Chandler, 82, of Reading, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026. She was born January 19, 1944, in Salisbury, North Carolina, to Marvin B. Chandler and Mary L. Chandler (Uhland).

Mary graduated from Selinsgrove High School in 1962. Mary is survived by her daughter, Dawn Phillips; her son, Brian Carl; and her sister, Margaret Brown. Mary was a proud “Mom Mom” to her 3 grandchildren; Donald Benedict, Casey Bassett, and Hunter Phillips. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Chandler.

Mary built a life centered on caring for others. She was especially known for her baking and cooking skills that became her signature. Whether it was a holiday meal, a blueberry pound cake, or a simple treat “just because.” Mary expressed her love through the food she made and the time she spent preparing it.

Mary looked forward to the Kentucky Derby each year, cherishing the excitement it brought. She also found joy on trips to the casino, where she enjoyed the fun and thrill of trying her luck.

Those who knew Mary will remember her kindness, her humor, and the way she made people feel welcomed and cared for. Her legacy lives on in the memories she created and the love she shared so freely.

A prayer service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026 at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home; 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611. Family and friends are invited to gather from 10 a.m. until  the beginning of the service. Burial will be private.
