Mary Arline Myers (Cup), 99, passed away peacefully at her home at the Heritage of Green Hills on October 25, 2026.
Born on August 16, 1927, she grew up in Baltimore MD, and graduated from William and Mary College. Mary was an only child. She said this helped her learn to listen, which was one of many attributes that made Mary a great friend. Mary also said she inherited good bones from her mother… they bend but don’t break.
Cup served as a social worker in Norristown, PA, and then enjoyed helping customers and working the cash register at retail stores. She was delighted to meet composer Oscar Hammerstein when she lived in Doylestown, PA.
Mary learned to play poker at 4 years of age, and was a devoted bridge player and golfer. She enjoyed spending many years playing the golf courses in Vero Beach, Florida with her friends.
Cup was known for speaking candidly whatever was on her mind. Some of these thoughts might have been better left unsaid, but most often they were caring, memorable, and humorous.
Mary was predeceased by lifelong friends Rita Blancato and Shirley Landis. She was survived by many of Rita and Shirley’s extended family, who loved Cup like their own family.
Cup did not wish to have a formal service or memorial. Kuhn Funeral Home in Reading, PA is honored to be entrusted with her final care.
