Mary A. Gery

Mary A. (Myatt) Gery, 82, died July 19, 2008 in her Shillington residence.

Born May 31, 1926 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Alfred J. Myatt Sr. and Gertrude G. (Schlageter) Myatt.

Mary was a devout catholic who graduated from Reading Catholic High School (1944) and was a member of St. John the Baptist de La Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington.

She enjoyed helping and serving people and through the years was employed in various service and retail settings. She was also a "super" homemaker and cook , always there for her family.

Over the span of 19 years Mary had four sons and is survived by three: Thomas F , husband of Francine T. (Lodato) Gery, of Lower Alsace Township; Christopher A, husband of Catheryn E. (Wykel) Gery, of Exeter Township; Dr. Brian F, husband of Dr. Maureen (Godfrey) Gery of Ventnor, New Jersey.

She was predeceased by a son, Joseph A. Gery, who died July 13, 1989.

Mary is also survived by eight grandchildren; Rebecca L. wife of Anthony J. DiSarro, Scott Gery, Christopher M. Gery, Ryne J. Gery, Joseph P. Gery, Marissa E. Gery, Allison Gery and Adam Gery.

She also felt blessed to see her only great grandchild at three days old; Layna Grace DiSarro.

Other survivors include five siblings: Alfred J. Myatt, Jr., of Shillington; Gertrude M. Melnczek of Shillington; Anne E. Stelzpflug of Reading; Elizabeth A. Wells of Shillington and Theresa M. Bender of Ephrata.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00am in St. John the Baptist de La Salle R.C. Church, Kerrick Road and Holland Street, Shillington. A viewing will be held one hour prior to Mass in the Church. Entombment will be private in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. Edward J.
