Marvin E. Kimmel, 83 of Sinking Spring, passed away Saturday August 5, 2017 in his residence.
He was the husband of Carrie "Dolly" (Firing) Kimmel; they would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, August 8.
Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late Elwood and Mamie (Raudenbush) Kimmel.
Marvin was a 1952 graduate of Wilson High School.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served overseas in Okinawa.
Marvin worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years until his retirement in 1991. He also was proud to do side jobs as an electrician during his working years.
He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, Sinking Spring, and the American Legion.
He was a devoted husband, loving father and pop-pop. His pride and joy was his yellow 1957 Chevy.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters: Joni Frick, Birdsboro, and Sheri Brown, Wyomissing; grandchildren: Derek Kimmel, Cody Frick, Trever Kimmel, Amanda Seidel, Tyler Frick, Heather Brown, Falen Kimmel and Presten Kimmel; great-grandchildren: Trever Jr., Lillian, and a third expected soon; Siblings: Marian Lutz, Sinking Spring, Joan Lund, AZ, Dawn Heck, Fritztown, and Robert Kimmel, Wernersville; Sister-in-law: Jane Good, Sinking Spring; and many nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a son Lee Kimmel, and sisters, Ruth, Leona, and Betty.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.
