Marvin Roger Esterly

Marvin Roger Esterly, Sr., 73, of South Heidelberg Township, died January 17, 2014 in St. Joseph Medical Center.

He was the husband of Rose (Hoffmann) whom he married June 18, 1988.

Born December 28, 1940 in West Reading, he was a son of the late Frank B. and Florence Mary (Knauer) Esterly.

Marvin was a graduate of Reading High School.

He was employed as a machinist with Rockwell International for 38 years. After retiring from Rockwell, he worked part-time as a school bus driver with BCIU.

Marvin served in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing, but above all, loved spending time with his family.

Also surviving in addition to his wife are his four children: Susan, wife of Jeffrey G. Gregro of Spring Township; Marvin R., Jr., husband of Karen R. Esterly of Midland, TX; Darryl S., husband of Bonnie S. Esterly of Ruscombmanor Township and Christina L. Rossi of Laureldale.

Other survivors include his five siblings: Daniel Esterly of Myrtle Beach, SC; Frank Esterly of Mohnton; Charlotte Schwartz of Alsace Township; June Hilbert of Denver, Lancaster County and Betty Brayfield of Florida.

There are also eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren surviving.

Marvin was predeceased by seven brothers and three sisters.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
