Martin E. Devlin, 79, of Exeter Township, died June 28, 2010 in Villa at Morlatton, Douglassville after an accidental fall.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Carl M. and Edith (Haenchen) Devlin.

He was a graduate of Penn State University, University Park.

Martin was an Air Force veteran. He had been employed as a computer systems consultant for 35 years, and was last employed as a partner in the former Computer Educational Services, retiring in 1995.

Devlin was a past president and secretary of the Kiwanis Club of Reading and former treasurer of the Reading Community Players.

He served on the board of CTCE Federal Credit Union and was chairman of its supervisory committee.

He was also involved throughout his life with various civic and musical organizations including Reading Civic Opera Society, Berks Grand Opera and most recently the Reading Liederkranz.

He is survived by three daughters, Denise (Devlin) Rankin, Shillington, Christine (Devlin) Rhoads, Douglassville, and Eileen (Devlin) Piccolo, Shillington; and two sons, T. Max and Jeffrey both of Reading. One sister, Elsie Jane Lorber, LaFayette, NJ, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive him. He was predeceased by a son, Gregory, a grandson, Michael and his second wife Jeri (Kelsay) Devlin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena Chapel, Mt. Penn. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Pacem In Vita Institute, P.O. Box 564, Douglassville, PA 19518. Marty was the secretary to the organization for the past several years. Pacem In Vita is a leadership and conflict resolution program for junior and senior high school students based upon Tai Chi, an ancient Chinese Martial Art.
