Martha E. Schaeffer

Martha E. Schaeffer, 90, formerly of Earl Township, passed away peacefully February 29, 2012 in Mifflin Center, Cumru Township.

Born in Bernville, she was the wife of the late Elwood F. Schaeffer and the daughter of the late Ella Mae Strause.

Martha was a graduate of Reading High School, class of 1938, and was a member of the former Christ Lutheran Church, Spangsville, where she was active in the women's group.

She is survived by three sons and their wives: David E. and Diane Schaeffer of Exeter Twp, Thomas L. and Carol Schaeffer of Earl Twp., and Robert G. and Wilma Schaeffer of Oley; five daughters and their husbands: Judith Ann and Abram Metz of Ash Flat, AR, Nancy J. and Harry Bullick of Boyertown., Barbara J. and Robert Cleaver of Mohnton, Ruth A. and Allen Williams of Fleetwood, and Linda S. and John Messina of Exeter Twp.; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 3, 2012 from Blankenbiller Funeral Home, 423 Main St., Oley with Pastor Don McHenry officiating. Burial will follow in Oley Union Cemetery, Spangsville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
